Mérida is gearing up to host the anticipated 2024 Back to School Fair, scheduled for August 2 to 4. The event is timed to coincide with the start of the school year, with an aim to ease the strain on family budgets.

The Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco) and the local National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) are collaborating to organize this event. It will feature discounts of up to 30 percent on a wide variety of school supplies and other essential items for the new school year. The fair was announced by Esaú Velázquez Sosa, head of the Mérida Consumer Defense Office (Odeco), and Levy Abraham Macari, president of Canaco.

The fair is expected to draw approximately 10,000 visitors over its three-day run. Velázquez Sosa highlighted that this event offers families a significant opportunity to save money while also stimulating the local economy. Abraham Macari emphasized the importance of purchasing products that meet Mexican official regulations, ensuring the quality and safety of the school supplies available at the fair.

In addition to school essentials like stationery, books, uniforms, and footwear, visitors will also find computer equipment and other necessary items for the new school year. The fair is not just about providing consumers with affordable prices, but also about strengthening local trade and promoting informed, responsible purchasing.

The Back to School Fair is expected to be a convenient and safe option for the community to prepare for the new school year in Mérida.
