Young Morena Supporter Killed at Campaign Event by Rival Group in Yucatan

Mario Delgado, the national leader of the Morena party, has publicly condemned the murder of a 21-year-old supporter and the physical assault of other party members. The violence is alleged to have been perpetrated by a rival group, supporters of the PAN, at a police station in Yucatan.

Delgado Carrillo announced on social media that the young man, Juan Carlos, was killed during an assault by this rival group at a campaign event for their candidate, Manuel Castro. The event took place at the X-Bohom police station in the municipality of Chankom, located in southeastern Mexico.

Delgado has called on state authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice. In a joint statement with Morena's allies, the PT and the PVEM, it was revealed that on the night of the incident, a group of at least 30 people associated with the outgoing mayor and PAN reelection candidate, Concepción Tamayo Noh, ambushed a Morena caravan supporting Castro's campaign and attacked its members.

The statement also claimed that Roger Cimé, the husband of the aspiring candidate and a member of a family that has held power in the municipality for decades, was present during the attack. The coalition Sigamos haciendo historia reported that as a result of the violence, Juan Carlos was killed and others were injured.

The coalition stated, "We cannot allow Yucatan to lose its peaceful spirit, and that such regrettable events like this remain unpunished and repeated."
