A bus carrying 50 undocumented passengers was detained at a police checkpoint in Playa del Carmen. The passengers were en route to Cancún when the incident occurred. The National Institute of Migration (INM), supported by the National Guard, took control of the situation.
The bus was stopped during a routine check by municipal police officers at the second checkpoint. The vehicle, a gray bus with a red stripe, was traveling north from Chetumal.
Upon inspection, the officers discovered the bus was carrying 50 people of various nationalities, including both minors and adults. The INM was immediately contacted to verify the situation. Upon further inspection, it was confirmed that the passengers were undocumented.
Preliminary reports suggest that the bus was headed for Cancún, where the passengers were expected to find work. The INM and the National Guard took responsibility for the bus and its passengers, transporting them to Cancún to proceed with the necessary legal procedures.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the transportation of these undocumented individuals.
