Organized crime in Quintina Roo resulted in 60 deaths in August, with the majority of these homicides suspected to be linked to criminal cartels. The last day of August was no different from the rest of the month, with three taxi drivers abducted in the state capital and one shot dead in Solidaridad. Additionally, the bodies of three murdered men were discovered in a settlement in Cancun.

Six of the 11 municipalities in the state were battlegrounds for these criminal cartels. Some of these incidents are being investigated by authorities as retaliatory actions, with alleged hitmen targeting members of rival groups. Others are suspected to have resulted from betrayals within the criminal organizations.

In comparison to July, Playa del Carmen saw a 300 percent increase in homicides, jumping from four cases in July to 16 in August. In Solidaridad, a hidden grave was recently discovered. According to sources close to the investigation, the remains of six individuals, along with their clothing, were found at the site. These items could provide crucial clues for their identification.

Surrounding this secret burial site, there are rumors of more bodies. It is currently unknown if these could be linked to the same cartel that operates in Cancun. This group is known for abducting individuals, often to coerce them into cooperation or to extract information about rival groups. These victims are often subsequently executed and buried in desolate areas.
