“Massive Power Restoration Efforts Post-Hurricane Beryl”

A damaged street with multiple fallen utility poles and tangled wires after a severe weather event, residents are seen assessing the damage.

In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, which was later downgraded to a tropical storm, several communities across the Yucatan Peninsula found themselves without power. To address this, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) dispatched teams from various parts of Mexico to the affected area.

The breakdown of the affected users and the restoration progress by state is as follows: In Campeche, all 4,073 affected users have had their electricity restored. In Quintana Roo, 97% of the 213,541 affected users have had their power restored. In Yucatan, 90% of the 209,503 affected users have had their electricity restored.

The remaining 27,339 users who are still without power are located in the last regions hit by the hurricane. These are the areas where the infrastructure suffered the most damage, and where work is still ongoing to fully restore power as quickly as possible.

The CFE's restoration efforts are ongoing until all affected users have their power restored. To aid in disaster relief, the CFE has deployed 2,330 electrical workers, 372 cranes, 624 vehicles, 68 emergency plants, 6 all-terrain vehicles, 39 mobile communication devices, and 5 helicopters.

The CFE is coordinating its efforts with the National Civil Protection System, the Secretariat of National Defense, Navy, the National Water Commission, the Ministry of Health, Civil Protection, as well as state and municipal governments, to manage this crisis.
