Hoteliers on the island of Holbox are anticipating full occupancy rates by the end of the year. The Holbox Island Hotel Association has reported a steady increase in occupancy since November, with a significant surge expected from December 20 onwards. The nearly 40 members of the association have already reported full reservations.

Christian Stenta, the association's executive president, expects this high occupancy rate to continue through January and until April 2025. The goal is to maintain an occupancy rate of no less than 85 percent, with a further increase expected during the Easter season.

In addition to managing occupancy rates, the hoteliers are also working on promoting the island to their key markets. This includes French, German, English, and Spanish tourists, with efforts also being made to explore new markets and establish agreements with various global tourism agencies and stakeholders.

Stenta also noted that there have been some changes in the island's hotel rates, with reductions between 30 and 50 percent depending on the hotel's location. This strategy is aimed at helping hotels maintain their workforce, despite some ongoing staffing challenges.
