The proposed reform seeks to amend the Constitution to incorporate principles pertaining to animal protection, ethical treatment, and conservation. It also addresses existing practices such as animal breeding and slaughter for human consumption, and the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking, which significantly impacts the country's ecosystems.
Senator Segura has highlighted that animal welfare is a top priority for him. He has initiated specific actions in Quintana Roo, including animal welfare days. These events provide free services for pets, such as rabies vaccinations, deworming, canine grooming, and distribution of supplies like dog food and flea soap.
During these welfare days, pets are registered, receive veterinary consultations, free vaccinations, and are issued identification cards. Senator Segura has pledged to continue promoting these initiatives in Quintana Roo. He believes that the approval of this reform signifies a step forward in the protection of animal rights in Mexico.
