Solidaridad's Mayor, Estefanía Mercado, has entered into a comprehensive collaboration agreement with the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Taxi Union. The aim of the agreement is to enhance language proficiency, customer service, and establish a service manual for the 2,500 taxi drivers within the union.

Mayor Mercado stressed that the agreement underscores the commitment to build a stronger, more united Solidaridad with a clear vision for the future. "We take pride in reaffirming our commitment to a stronger, united Solidaridad with a clear vision for the future," said Mercado.

Mercado highlighted the vital role taxi drivers play in the tourism industry, often being the first and last point of contact for tourists. She emphasized the need for tourists to receive top-quality service. "The quality of tourism is gauged by what the destination offers and how it treats tourists. Taxi drivers are the first and last impression visitors have of Playa del Carmen. This impression should be unforgettable,” she said.

Mercado expressed gratitude to the Union for their contribution to the transformation of Playa del Carmen. She reiterated that the goal of training taxi drivers in values and service techniques is to ensure passengers feel safe and comfortable with drivers committed to their well-being. Ivan Flores Amezcua, the Interior Secretary of the Taxi Union, affirmed the union's commitment to enhancing the destination and promoting the soon-to-be-launched city brand. "We are part of this effort to establish Playa del Carmen as a destination of touristic excellence," he stated.

Estefania Hernandez, the Secretary of Tourism, emphasized her department's vision to transform the destination into a place full of opportunities for everyone. She also explained that the Let’s Playa campaign has designed strategies to promote the destination and train all those involved in the hospitality industry.
