Laura Gio, a renowned softball player, has announced the third edition of a tournament specifically for veteran players aged 40 and over. The competition is set to take place from May 2nd to May 4th.

During a press conference, Gio was joined by Amador Gutiérrez Guigui, the director of the municipal Sports Institute. As the founder of the tournament, Gio revealed that this year's event will see the participation of 16 teams from eight different states across Mexico. These include Yucatán, Campeche, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, and Jalisco, among others.

The tournament will be hosted across four venues, with one being the Riviera Maya Sports Unit. Gio expressed her belief that the continuation of this competition will help to further popularize softball, a sport that already has a substantial following in the municipality.

Gio described the tournament as a "grain of sand", contributing to the growing interest in the sport. Gutiérrez Guigui supported this sentiment, adding that events like this not only promote physical health and sport but also generate significant economic revenue.

He suggested that the tournament could help position Solidaridad as a preferred destination for sports tourism. Both officials agreed that the event would strengthen the professional practice of softball in the municipality.
