Estefanía Mercado, the Municipal President of Solidaridad, attended the World Tourism Trend Summit (WTTS) 2024's inauguration today. The event, led by Governor Mara Lezama, took place at the city's International Convention Center. The summit brought together leaders, experts, and visionaries from the tourism and technology sectors to discuss strategies, innovation, and emerging trends.
Mercado celebrated the fact that Cozumel is becoming a hub for tourism innovation. She emphasized the importance of strengthening and enhancing the competitiveness of destinations in the Mexican Caribbean and across the country. This, she said, will continue the transformation of the industry while adhering to sustainability guidelines.
She stressed the need for teamwork among government, private sector, and society at large. The goal is to ensure that the success of tourism, based on a responsible and inclusive model, benefits the families of Quintana Roo. This aligns with the New Agreement for Welfare and Development promoted by the Governor.
Mercado also announced that the Playa del Carmen brand relaunch will take place on December 2. This move is designed to align with the dynamic approach to tourism that Governor Mara Lezama has implemented in Quintana Roo and its 12 destinations. In addition, Mercado revealed plans to transform the Municipal Palace in the city center into a cultural space.
The Municipal President emphasized the importance of Playa del Carmen's presence at the WTTS 2024 and its support for Cozumel. She highlighted the intention to collaborate closely with the government of Solidaridad in areas such as tourism and security.
Governor Mara Lezama reiterated her commitment to promoting sustainable and equitable tourism. She expressed her desire for the success of the industry to benefit those who contribute to its greatness in Quintana Roo. She wished success to the 500 tourism leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovation experts attending the summit in Cozumel, who are working to shape the future of tourism through technology and sustainability.
