A recent survey by INEGI has found that 46.9% of Yucatecans aged 18 and over view corruption as the second most significant issue in their state. Furthermore, 67.8% of this age group believe acts of corruption occur very frequently or frequently. Despite these figures, Yucatán's corruption perception remains below the national average of 83.1%.

Marisol Contreras Navarrete, the technical secretary of the Yucatán State Anti-Corruption System (SEAY), stated that Yucatán is one of the states with a lower perception of corruption compared to the national average. She explained that the perception of corruption mostly pertains to procedures and services, particularly those involving road and public safety, based on national studies.

Ivanna Ongay Xacur, the president of the SEAY's Citizen Participation Council, emphasized the importance of implementing strategies to prevent corruption. These strategies include training government bodies, corporations, and citizens to identify behaviors associated with corruption. She also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about corruption from an early age in classrooms.

Xacur stressed the significance of using clear language when discussing corruption, promoting the right to access information to address social issues, and encouraging reporting of corrupt practices. She stated, "As part of the Anti-Corruption System, our executive secretariat focuses on prevention, and we provide legal guidance to support this effort."

The report also mentioned plans to intensify efforts in municipalities to raise awareness among officials who are new to their roles about the fight against corruption. This will include the implementation of strategies for transferring power, submitting wealth statements, and providing access to training for officials.
