Cancún Taxi Driver Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault – Startling Incident Unveiled

A taxi driver, known as José Roberto "N", has been detained by the Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo. He is suspected of sexually abusing a passenger in the municipality of Benito Juárez.

The incident allegedly occurred on the night of November 30. The victim had hailed taxi number 3061, associated with the Andrés Quintana Roo union, after leaving a local establishment. Initial investigations reveal that the woman woke up the next day in a motel in Supermanzana 239, not far from 20 de Noviembre Avenue and Prolongación Tulum. She was next to a man she claimed had sexually assaulted her.

When confronted, José Roberto "N" reportedly fled the scene in his taxi. The victim initially shared her experience on social media, sparking widespread outrage and calls for authorities to take action. She later formally filed a complaint with the FGE, noting that the man had even brazenly followed her to the judicial authority.

The FGE, through its Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Combatting Sexual Crimes, launched an investigation and subsequently arrested the taxi driver. He has been handed over to the Public Ministry to determine his legal status.

In light of this incident, the FGE has urged anyone who may have been a victim of this individual to come forward and report it immediately. The case has raised concerns within the community and highlights the need for enhanced safety measures to protect women using public transportation in Cancún and across the state, according to officials handling the complaint.
