On December 6, 2024, the Mayor of Tulum, Diego Castañón Trejo, initiated the Guadalupe-Reyes 2024 Security Operation. This operation brings together forces from all three levels of government to ensure the safety of residents and tourists during the December holiday season.

Mayor Castañón urged all participating forces to work in coordination, prioritizing the safety of families and tourists. He also appealed to the public to drive responsibly and respectfully during the holiday period.

"We are committed to ensuring the security of our citizens and visitors," said Mayor Castañón. "We live in a world-renowned municipality and it is our duty to maintain its reputation by ensuring the safety of all."

Sergio Amilcar Canto Contreras, the Director General of Civil Protection in Tulum, emphasized the collective efforts of the Defense, Navy, Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, State Police, and Civil Protection in the operation. He assured that the combined forces will respond swiftly and effectively to maintain safety during the holidays.

"We are launching the Guadalupe-Reyes 2024 operation today, a collaborative effort aimed at protecting our families, visitors, and the entire community during this important holiday season," Contreras said.

Renato García Dominguez, the Undersecretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Tulum, noted that the operation will continue until January 6th. It will include the "Blindaje Tulum" operation, which encompasses a comprehensive prevention strategy, technology, and operational presence throughout the municipality.
