The Sayab Planetarium recently celebrated its 9th anniversary with a host of exciting activities. These included a cultural fair, a space suit contest, an interstellar cinema feature, and interactive workshops such as Space Lottery, Lunar Footprints, Space Backpacks, Space Rockets, and Rover Robots. The primary aim of these activities was to spark interest in science and technology among younger generations.
Cristopher Malpica, the General Director of the Quintana Roo Council of Humanities, Sciences, and Technologies (COQHCYT), was present at the event. He highlighted the importance of inspiring young people from Quintana Roo to pursue careers in Science, Astronomy, and Technology.
The Sayab Planetarium in Playa del Carmen has been developed under the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo. This initiative, led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, aims to encourage young people to devote themselves to research. Santos Salazar Tello, the Director of the Sayab Planetarium, stated that the anniversary served not only as a reminder of their mission but also as an opportunity to enhance youth development in Playa del Carmen through recreational and educational activities.
Attendees expressed their appreciation for the event and highlighted the significance of science and technology in daily life.
