A 56-year-old French tourist tragically drowned while swimming at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya hotel in Playa del Carmen. The man's wife, who first noticed her husband was in distress, immediately called for help.

Witnesses reported that both lifeguards and guests at the hotel rushed to assist in the rescue effort. They were able to pull the man from the water and began resuscitation efforts. Despite being unconscious, he was still alive when transported to a local private hospital. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Officials from Quintana Roo's State Attorney General's Office and the Forensic Medical Service arrived at the hospital to transport the man's body to the morgue. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
