On Sunday morning, two men were injured in a shooting incident in the Antorchistas neighborhood, located in Macario Gómez, Tulum. An emergency call reporting gunshots was received at 7:30 am. Upon arrival, authorities found two victims, Jesús M., 38, from Mexico City, and Alberto M., 36, from Chetumal. Both men had gunshot wounds.
Paramedics were quick to arrive on the scene and administer first aid. Given the severity of their injuries, both men were immediately transferred to the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen. As of now, no updates have been given regarding their health status.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers were unidentified men who arrived in a taxi. Witnesses stated that the perpetrators exited the vehicle, fired their weapons, and then fled in an unknown direction. This has complicated the authorities' efforts to intervene.
In response to the incident, local security forces launched an operation to locate the attackers and gather more information about the vehicle used in the attack. However, no significant progress in the investigation has been reported yet.
The authorities continue to investigate the incident, working diligently to uncover the facts and identify the perpetrators. Experts from the State Attorney General's Office have been dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. This incident has once again raised concerns about safety in the municipality.
