Cozumel, a beautiful island located in Quintana Roo, Mexico, is home to numerous trendy spots, including museums and parks. The state government has recently introduced a special credential that allows residents to visit these cultural and recreational sites without paying any entrance fees. This article provides details on how to obtain this credential and what requirements need to be met.
The Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC) has initiated this credential to support local families, allowing them to explore the island's cultural and entertainment venues without any financial burden. However, it's important to note that this free access is only available to Cozumel residents, as it is a common practice in Quintana Roo to offer discounts to locals.
The FPMC credential grants free access to four popular tourist attractions in Cozumel:
- Chankanaab Parks
- Punta Sur
- Island Museum
- San Gervasio tourist stop
To obtain this credential, residents must meet certain requirements and pay a nominal fee. Each person, including children, must have their own credential to enjoy free admission.
Requirements:
For Adults:
- A copy of the current INE (National Electoral Institute) card showing a Cozumel address
- Proof of residence in Cozumel
For Minors:
- A copy of the current INE card of the parents or guardian
- A copy of the birth certificate
Fees:
- Over 13 years old: $100
- 4 – 12 years old: $50
To apply for the FPMC credential, simply visit the offices located at 30 Av. between 1st and Av. Juárez. They are open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 20:30. After registering, you will be issued your credential.
