Mario Villanueva Madrid, the ex-governor of Quintana Roo, has been hospitalized due to health complications. Currently under house arrest for charges including conspiracy, health offenses, and illegal fund operations, Villanueva Madrid announced on social media that he had to travel to Playa del Carmen for medical treatment. His health issues include problems with his heart, lungs, and thyroid.

Villanueva Madrid traveled to Playa del Carmen, a city in the Solidaridad municipality, because the necessary specialists and equipment for his treatment are not yet available in his hometown of Chetumal. He shared, "I have had to travel to Playa del Carmen for medical reasons. The hospital here has specialists and equipment that are unfortunately not available in Chetumal."

The former governor expressed gratitude for the medical staff in Chetumal, who provided the best care possible with the resources they had. However, he also pointed out the limitations in the health system. He stated, "I appreciate the efforts of the doctors and healthcare staff in my city. However, this situation underscores the limitations we face, affecting many people who, like me, must seek care in other cities."

Villanueva Madrid will remain in the Playa del Carmen hospital for a few days while his medical tests are completed. He expressed gratitude for the support and affection he has received through digital platforms, saying, "I will be in this hospital for a few days while my medical tests are completed. I sincerely appreciate the support and affection I have received."
