Tragedy Strikes in Yucatan: Eight Dogs Poisoned

Late in the evening, when most families were settled in for the night, a tragic event unfolded in the Yucatan. A local resident noticed his dog convulsing and immediately called for help. Soon after, other dog owners in the area began to observe similar symptoms in their pets. The residents of Chicxulub Puerto were devastated to discover that their dogs had been poisoned.

In total, eight dogs were found dead from poisoning at various properties in the Miguel Hidalgo neighborhood. This alarming incident sparked concern among the residents. Many began visiting their neighbors, only to find that more pets had suffered the same fate. The affected residents quickly alerted local authorities.

Officers from the Progreso Municipal Police arrived at the scene, specifically at the intersection of 25th and 44th streets. Here, they found two of the poisoned dogs and began their preliminary investigations. They took photographs and interviewed the affected residents. However, they reported that their ability to intervene was limited due to a lack of information about the perpetrator. The officers advised the residents to report the incident to the State Attorney General's Office.

To further the investigation, the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) were called in to handle the case more formally. It is expected that they will request footage from security cameras located near the scene to aid in identifying the perpetrator.

The community is hopeful that the authorities will act swiftly to find who is responsible for the death of these dogs. The incident has deeply distressed the residents, who fear that this could be the start of a series of burglaries. The theory is that the dogs, often serving as house guards, may have been poisoned to facilitate future thefts. The residents of Chicxulub Puerto are not only mourning the loss of their pets but are also worried about the potential for increased crime in their neighborhood.
