The Citizen Security Secretariat initiated an emergency response, known as the Red Code, following reports of gunfire near the entrance to Playa 88 and Fifth Avenue. The incident occurred around 5:30 in the afternoon.
A 9-1-1 call prompted the mobilization of Citizen Security forces to Playa 88 on Fifth Avenue. The initial report suggested that a firearm had been discharged at the facade of a house on 88 North Street.
Upon arrival at the reported location, officers found the situation to be somewhat different. Witnesses at the scene reported that two shots had been fired at a food stall situated at the entrance to Playa 88.
The area was swiftly cordoned off to allow for an investigation. This led to the discovery of two spent shell casings next to one of the food stalls. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Despite the lack of injuries, an evacuation of swimmers and other individuals in the vicinity was ordered. This was done to facilitate the investigation and to enable questioning of the food stall owner. Unfortunately, none of the witnesses were able to provide a clear description of the individuals who fired the shots.
