From December 31 to January 11, Tulum will play host to a unique series of electronic music parties. These events will be conducted with a focus on sustainability, offering a fresh and eco-friendly approach to partying.

Between December 31 and January 11, 2025 , the Riviera Mayawill witness a series of electronic music parties in various natural settings, featuring international electronic music talents such as Damian Lazarus, Fatboy Slim and Maceo Plex , among others.

But perhaps the most attractive part is what the organizers of these meetings, called Lostnights , highlight as part of their spirit: sustainability.

“ Lostnights Events is creating magical parties to close 2024 and start 2025 in one of the most iconic places in Mexico, in the middle of the jungle, without using iron and without damaging flora and fauna,” they promise in a statement.

These parties, which will take place in natural settings such as the beach and the jungle and are attended by between 4 and 9 thousand people , are produced in a sustainable manner and using a lot of local labor, according to Yaila Bailleres, in charge of strategic tasks for the company.

“Our experience has allowed us to create these types of unique experiences to work in different types of spaces , not only in venues such as stadiums or already established places, but we reach any type of place, from deserts, jungles and other places where there is no infrastructure, that is, water, electricity, etc. ”

“With our events in Tulum we try to build the stages in the least invasive way possible, with materials from the region and hiring local labor, in this case from the Mayan communities, who already have all the experience, for example, in building palapas ,” he adds.

According to the organizer, the company also works in partnership with certified companies to manage the separation of waste and thus have a lower impact on the environment . She says that in total, to carry out this type of event , about 400 people are involved , of which 100 come from outside and the rest are local workers .

When asked how they measure their carbon footprint , he says that they have everything well measured and that in addition to using only recyclable materials , they create annual reports that allow them to keep track of how much progress they make in each edition of Lostnights .

The festivities, day by day

The first gathering, called New Years Eve , will take place on December 31st at Mayan Warrior , and is a festival that hopes to bring together 4 thousand people in Tulum around music figures such as Mano Le Tough , Amémé , Salomé Le Chat , Omri , Tiago Oudman and Kinahau .

The next one will take place on January 5th , with the presence of Michael Bibi , Maceo Plex , Maga , Metrika and Hank , also in Tulum , expecting the arrival of 4 thousand attendees .

“This is a highly anticipated party, as Michael Bibi is very loved by the electronic music audience , and he had not played for several years due to recovering from cancer ,” he comments.

“On January 9th we have Solomun , who has also established himself as one of the most beloved acts in electronic music worldwide, and with whom we have already had some impressive parties in Mexico City , so it is also one of the most anticipated parties both by locals and by national and international tourism ,” he adds.

And to close these days, on the 11th of the same month the strongest of all the parties called Day Zero takes place . It is a festival that brings together dozens of talents , among which Damian Lazarus , Dubfire , Fatboy Slim , Secreto Echoes and other acts to be announced stand out.

“We expect about 9,000 people there and it is an event that takes place in the middle of the jungle , starting in the afternoon and ending at noon the following day, and in addition to several stages there will be Mayan dancers , artistic installations and immersive experiences .”

They make community

For Yaila Bailleres , one of the most rewarding experiences of doing these parties is seeing how people have created a community that prepares and dresses in a certain way to gather around music and nature .

“I have seen very nice stories , for example of people who were going through difficult times , who had just suffered a loss or who were simply living a new stage and who have found new friends here or who have found a comfort that has helped them.”

Also noteworthy is the contact with nature and the atmosphere of respect for it that is created among attendees and organizers .

“We have a lot of respect for the Mayan culture and the care of the trees , and that is why we are constantly maintaining the place throughout the year . This is something very special, for me personally and for the entire family that we have built among the entire staff ,” he adds.

As for the budget that a person, for example from Mexico City , should allocate to travel to this area and attend one of these parties , it can range between 10 thousand and 15 thousand pesos , although obviously that figure can vary, depending on the way in which each person decides to travel.

He adds that this is a good time to live this type of experiences , due to the infrastructure that continues to grow around the region.

“Now, with the opening of the Tulum airport and the Mayan train , it is much easier to get there and experience it up close, so we invite you to live the experience and get to know it firsthand, because many times people only find out about it through local or international media , but they cannot imagine what it is like to be here and experience it,” he emphasizes.
