The local government has announced the commencement of an extensive project to restore and level the public access to Punta Esmeralda beach, a popular tourist destination in Solidaridad. The project will involve the removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete block pavement, which has been damaged over time and by recent rainfall. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Public Works, and other local agencies.

The project also includes land leveling to prevent future rainfall from further damaging the area's infrastructure. Preliminary work, including the removal of deteriorated pavement, has already begun, with the main work set to commence in January 2025. The restoration is expected to result in safer and more functional access for both residents and tourists visiting this iconic beach.

The local government has also confirmed that it has trained staff ready for the high tourism season, known as "Lupe-Reyes". This includes the Tourist Police, Civil Protection, and Firefighters, who will work to ensure the safety of visitors while the public access works are underway.

The authorities have urged both residents and tourists to protect the Punta Esmeralda ecosystem. They emphasized the importance of not leaving litter such as plastic, styrofoam, glass, or cigarette butts on the beach. Project representatives highlighted the need for responsible behavior to combat erosion and environmental impact. The project aims to balance urban development needs with environmental conservation, with the ultimate goal of improving infrastructure and strengthening environmental protection efforts in this iconic area.
