Free Taxi Rides for Patients & Seniors in Cozumel

Starting January 5th, the Adolfo López Mateos Taxi Union in Cozumel will launch a free taxi service for two hours each weekday. The service will operate from 8 to 10 in the morning in front of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) clinic. This initiative, announced by the newly elected general secretary of the union, Jorge Basto Estrella, aims to support patients and elderly people in the community.

The free service will have six taxis operating during these hours. Those eligible for the service include:

  • IMSS affiliates who can provide proof of a clinical analysis appointment.
  • Elderly individuals with medical appointments.

The service will also extend to those receiving care at the Health Center, which is located a few blocks from the IMSS clinic. According to Estrella, this program is ongoing and is designed to assist the most vulnerable members of the community.
