Estefanía Mercado, the municipal president, inaugurated a remarkable event on Playa del Carmen's Fifth Avenue by cutting into a monumental 1-kilometre-long King's Cake. The cake, a symbol of love, joy, and prosperity, was shared with local families and visitors from across the country and around the world.

"This is the largest King's Cake ever seen in Playa del Carmen. It represents 1 kilometre of love, joy, and prosperity for everyone in 2025," said Mayor Mercado. The impressive cake, which drew the attention of both locals and international visitors, was made possible through the efforts of culinary students from Vizcaya University. Mayor Mercado expressed her gratitude to the institution for their significant contribution.

Mayor Mercado also announced an upcoming event. On January 8th, Governor Mara Lezama and the president of DIF Quintana Roo, Verónica Lezama, will host a musical art festival in Playa del Carmen. The event, featuring Mexican singer Tatiana, aims to bring joy to the children of Solidaridad.

Fifth Avenue, adorned with multicoloured lights and lively music, was the perfect venue for the historic King's Cake event. Estefanía Hernández, the Municipal Secretary of Tourism, hinted that next year's event would aim to break even more records in Latin America. The monumental King's Cake, which contained 2,500 dolls, was divided into 7,000 slices and distributed to the attendees. The production of the cake was a collaborative effort involving 200 students from Vizcaya University in Playa del Carmen.
