In Cancún, Q. Roo, a thorough inspection of 79 temporary anti-cyclone shelters has been conducted. Of these, 72 are situated in Cancún and 7 in Bonfil. The acting head of Civil Protection, Johann Alejandro Hendricks, confirmed this crucial task.
Throughout the past week, meticulous inspections of each designated temporary shelter were carried out. The aim was to ensure they meet all necessary requirements to function effectively during emergencies.
These inspections served multiple purposes. They not only checked the infrastructure and physical conditions of the shelters but also identified which schools and other spaces would be available as shelters during emergencies.
This process is vital to ensure the safety and welfare of the population during critical times. Notably, this year's ambitious goal is to establish 100 temporary shelters. This is a significant increase from last year, which saw the installation of 67 shelters.
Collaborative work is also underway with the National System for Comprehensive Family Development (DIF) in Benito Juárez. The aim is to ensure these temporary shelters are equipped with all necessary resources to aid affected individuals during emergencies. This includes providing mattresses, blankets, food, and hydration to ensure the well-being of all who seek refuge in these safe havens.
