Three individuals from Cozumel are implicated in the murder of a local Transit officer. The case investigation reveals that the suspects were contracted through Facebook to carry out the killing, with a payment of 60 thousand pesos.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Quintana Roo has announced that this is the second case involving these three men. They were previously implicated in drug offenses, having been found in possession of multiple doses of narcotics.
The suspects, Luis Alfredo N., Francisco Javier N., and Brandon Alexis N., were apprehended by Quintana Roo authorities in connection to the murder of the Transit officer, which took place in Cozumel on January 3rd.
One of the suspects, Luis Alfredo N., is also suspected to be a high-ranking member of an unidentified criminal organization, believed to be contributing to the escalating violence on the island, also known as the island of the swallows.
This case has drawn significant attention due to the unusual use of social media in the commission of serious crimes, highlighting a disturbing trend of hitmen being hired and advertising their services online.
In a separate incident, the General Prosecutor's Office of Quintana Roo reported that on January 13th of this year, five individuals were connected to drug offenses in Cozumel. Luis Alfredo N, Luis Ángel N, María José N, and Francisco Javier N were arrested and linked to drug offenses related to the distribution of marijuana and crystal meth.
