The Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco) in Mexico is taking a stand against high fuel prices in Cancún. They have placed banners and seals at several gas stations with the message "Don't fill up here, they're charging too much".

One of the targeted stations is a Mobil outlet located in Supermanzana 36, at the intersection of Kabah Avenue and Andres Quintana Roo. A Pemex station in Region 97, on Cancún Avenue, has also been flagged with warning seals.

The Mobil station charges 25.84 pesos per liter for regular gasoline and 26.64 pesos per liter for premium fuel. The station does not provide a price for diesel fuel as it only sells regular and premium gasoline.

Despite Profeco's efforts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, to monitor prices and place warning banners at Cancún’s gas stations, these signs are often folded and not easily visible to motorists. This has led to drivers being taken by surprise when they discover these stations are among the most expensive in the city, according to official reports.

Drivers have expressed their outrage at the high fuel prices. Many have noted that the price does not reflect the expected increase in fuel costs, which they view as exploitative. They have also stated that they would choose other gas stations upon learning of the warnings, as the high prices significantly impact their finances.

The region with the lowest gasoline prices in Mexico is Tamaulipas, where the average price of regular gasoline is 22.03 pesos per liter. In contrast, the state with the highest prices is Quintana Roo, where the same fuel costs 25.84 pesos per liter.

Profeco's actions in Cancún are part of a wider initiative across seven states in Mexico, where banners have been installed to alert consumers and distributors about excessive fuel prices.
