In a snorkeling tour mishap at the ‘Colombia’ Reef in Cozumel, five tourists, including three Argentinians and two Mexicans, sustained injuries. The accident occurred when strong sea currents unexpectedly swept them away during their underwater exploration.
Following the incident, the injured tourists were promptly transported to a local health center for medical treatment. This unfortunate event underscores the critical importance of prioritizing safety measures in all tourist activities in the region.
The vessel was secured and surrounded with yellow tape, while the corresponding investigations are carried out to determine responsibilities.
Three of the injured were transferred in “code green”, which indicates that they received medical attention but their condition did not represent a serious risk. The other two tourists were also treated for minor injuries.
Authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the causes of the accident and to establish additional security measures to prevent future incidents.
