Recently, there have been numerous incidents of tourists being harassed and attacked in Cancun and Quintana Roo. In response, Mexico's Secretary of Tourism has been actively seeking solutions. Collaborative efforts with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and other organizations have been initiated to address this issue. The situation is particularly concerning for Colombian tourists, prompting the introduction of measures such as pre-registration to minimize entry rejections at the destination.

The number of visitors from South American countries has seen a significant drop of 40% to 50% due to these entry denials. There have been instances of Colombian tourists being turned away despite attempting to enter the country legally. These incidents have been widely shared on social media.

In light of this, events like the World Cup are anticipated to help alleviate these problems and enhance the overall tourist experience in Cancun. The hope is that such initiatives will ultimately put an end to these unwarranted entry denials.
