Playa del Carmen will be represented at the upcoming Second Forum of Women Naturalists of Mexico and Latin America. The event, scheduled for February 10 to 15, will take place in Mexico City. Two local naturalists, Ale Flores and María Dolores Mendoza, will discuss the Urban Cenotes project.
The forum aims to showcase the work of female naturalists from Mexico and across Latin America. It seeks to inspire and encourage girls and women to deepen their understanding and conservation of biodiversity.
The event will utilize the "iNaturalist" platform to share experiences, achievements, and success stories. Presentations will feature women from Guatemala, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and various Mexican states.
In Playa del Carmen, the "iNaturalist" app, promoted by the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity, has gained popularity. It's widely used by locals, including children who founded Urban Cenotes, a highly active citizen science collective. Ale Flores will discuss the situation in this region during the forum.
The forum will be available for viewing on the Naturalista MX page.
