The government has announced the acquisition of 101 private properties to facilitate the ongoing construction of the Maya Train. These properties, spanning over 914,000 square meters, will be used for sections 1 through 6 of the project. The properties are situated in various municipalities across Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo.

The acquisition was officially declared in the Friday evening edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF). The list of properties includes various sizes of land. The Institute of Administration and Appraisal of National Assets (Indaabin) set the compensation rates per square meter for each property. The decree was signed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo on Thursday, February 6, and came into effect immediately after its publication on Friday.

This acquisition follows a previous one in October of last year, when the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) announced the acquisition of properties in four municipalities of Quintana Roo for the construction of the project. According to the document dated October 29, 2024, over 81,000 square meters of land from 60 private properties across Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, and Yucatan will be acquired.

In Quintana Roo, 23 properties in Lázaro Cárdenas, Solidaridad, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Othón Pompeyo Blanco were declared necessary for the railway project's infrastructure. In Lázaro Cárdenas, a property of 20,964 square meters will be acquired; in Solidaridad, 12 properties totaling 10,195 square meters will be acquired. In Felipe Carrillo Puerto, three properties totaling 5,474 square meters will be acquired; and in Othón Pompeyo Blanco, seven properties totaling 4,000 square meters will be acquired.

The topographic plans and the declaration file will be made available to all interested individuals or corporations.
