An increase in dengue cases has been reported in Quintana Roo, with 12 confirmed cases up to the fifth epidemiological week. This has prompted the activation of preventive measures and mosquito control in the affected areas.

The Quintana Roo State Health Ministry recently updated the dengue statistics up to the fifth epidemiological week, which ended on February 11, 2025. According to their report, 12 cases of dengue have been confirmed in the state so far, with no deaths. The municipality of Benito Juarez reported six cases, Solidaridad five, and Othón P. Blanco one. However, no confirmed cases have been reported in the municipalities of Bacalar, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Lázaro Cárdenas, Puerto Morelos, Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and José María Morelos.

In response to the rise in cases, health authorities have intensified prevention and control measures against the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the primary dengue vector. These measures are particularly focused on municipalities where cases have been registered. The actions being implemented include spraying campaigns, elimination of mosquito breeding grounds, and public information campaigns to prevent the spread of the mosquito.

Citizens are advised to be vigilant for symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, rash, and general discomfort. It's crucial to maintain good hygiene in homes, avoid water accumulation in open containers, use insect repellent, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms present.
