On the 38th anniversary of the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC), the "In Transition" exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist Mária Chilf was unveiled at the Island Museum. Chilf's collection includes three artistic installations, a photographic exhibition, and a documentary video, all of which explore Mexican culture, the significance of cenotes, and the use of medicinal plants.
The opening event was presided over by the FPMC's General Director, Juanita Alonso Marrufo; Island Museum Director, Isela Carrillo Cupul; Institution Advisor, Alejandro Queb Franco; museum curator Satoko Kitamura, and Artistic Director of the Black Jaguar Art and Culture Center, Daniela Jauregui. Mária Chilf was also present at the event.
During the opening ceremony, Juanita Alonso emphasized the importance of collaboration with other state-level cultural institutions, such as the Black Jaguar, located in the Riviera Maya. This partnership allows artists residing or visiting the mainland to also showcase their work on the island of Cozumel.
Additionally, the director of the institution presented a special recognition to the Hungarian artist Mária Chilf, celebrating her first artistic exhibition in Cozumel. This recognition acknowledged her contribution in sharing her talent and vision with both the island's residents and the visitors who frequent the museum center, a renowned cultural hub in Quintana Roo.
