The Riviera Maya is gearing up to host the second annual National Sustainable, Inclusive, and Fair Tourism Awards of Mexico. This event is designed to spotlight those who are most dedicated to the growth of responsible tourism within the country.
The Riviera Maya Hotel Association (AHRM) and the environmental group, The Seas We Love (TSWL), have jointly announced the opening of the nomination period for these prestigious awards. The final date for submitting nominations is August 31, 2025, and the awards ceremony is scheduled for November at the renowned Cancún Theater.
For the second year running, these awards will honor the most innovative initiatives that champion environmental conservation, social inclusion, and equitable economic growth within the tourism sector. The nine award categories are as follows:
- Advancement of sustainable tourism
- Development of tourism in indigenous communities
- Efforts to combat climate change
- Biodiversity conservation projects
- Measures to encourage diversity and inclusion
- Projects with a positive socio-economic impact
- Sustainable technological innovation
- Best sustainable, inclusive, and fair product or service
- Philanthropic contributions to sustainable tourism
AHRM President, Toni Chaves, emphasized that the aim of these awards is to acknowledge those making a positive impact on Mexico's tourism industry. Meanwhile, TSWL CEO and the awards' Executive Director, Ignacio Muñoz, expressed optimism about the anticipated response from the tourism sector this year.
