The eleventh edition of Rally Maya is set to kick off on March 28 and run through April 5, featuring a total of 75 classic cars. This year's route will take participants through southern Quintana Roo, starting in Tulum and ending in Merida.
One of the highlights of this year's rally is a century-old Ford vehicle. The inclusion of this historic car is in celebration of the brand's 100th anniversary in Mexico. All participating vehicles must be at least 40 years old.
The first stage of the rally will take place at the Tulum Country Club. From there, participants will travel through Felipe Carrillo Puerto–Bacalar, including a visit to the new archaeological zone of Ichkabal, before reaching Chetumal. The second stage of the rally will also include a stop in Calderitas.
The rally will then move on to Campeche, where participants will visit more archaeological sites. The final leg of the tour will take the classic cars to Yucatan, marking the end of the event.
In addition to the car rally, the event also includes a number of social responsibility initiatives. These include supporting children, young people, and adults through associations dedicated to individuals with diabetes, Down Syndrome, cancer, and autism.
The rally also brings economic benefits to the communities it passes through. In some cases, locals even skip school to participate in the event. As part of their community support, the rally organizers distribute wheelchairs and bicycles to children in these communities, helping students get to school and promoting social support.
