On the International Day of the Craftsman and Craftswoman, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa underscored the importance of Mayan ancestral knowledge. Speaking at an event in Tulum, she urged both men and women to keep passing down these age-old skills. She also highlighted the government's efforts to support artisan work, food culture, and community tourism through more than 20 programs.

In Quintana Roo, nearly 5,000 artisans employ traditional techniques such as embroidery, weaving, wood carving, and jewelry making. To recognize their contribution, the Governor presented awards to several artists and inaugurated the first FONART store in the state. This store will benefit over 600 master craftspeople by showcasing and selling their valuable cultural creations.

Governor Lezama emphasized that artisans are central to the new governance approach, and their work is crucial to the cultural and tourist identity of the region.
