Quintana Roo's Governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa, has announced a new transport service aimed at improving mobility for tourists and locals between Cancun International Airport and the Hotel Zone. This initiative, run by Autobuses de Oriente (ADO) in partnership with the ASUR Group, will provide a safe and regulated transfer along one of the region's busiest routes.
Cancun International Airport is Mexico's second busiest, with a record 32.79 million passengers in 2023, marking a 7.9% increase from the previous year. The introduction of this new transport service aims to improve connectivity and enhance the experience for travelers visiting one of the country's top tourist destinations.
The bus service will stop at terminals 2, 3, and 4 of the airport, before heading to a plaza located in the Hotel Zone. This affordable option will be regulated to ensure efficient transfers and deter the use of unauthorised or informal transport options.
"This is another step towards improving mobility for those visiting Cancun or for locals needing to travel comfortably and safely," said Mara Lezama during her direct communication program with citizens, "The Voice of the People".
The implementation of this service, driven by the state government, demonstrates a commitment to improving mobility in a destination that welcomes millions of tourists each year. "Cancun is the gateway to the Mexican Caribbean, and improving its transport options is crucial for providing a better experience for visitors and residents alike," Lezama added.
The company's experience in passenger transport ensures a service that meets quality standards and satisfies consumer needs.
In addition, the governor urged citizens to help prevent the creation of illegal garbage dumps in the state's natural areas, particularly in Chetumal, where several waste accumulation points have been identified. She reminded locals of her administration's program for the recovery and transformation of public spaces, aimed at improving the quality of life for Quintana Roo's residents and promoting tourism in the south of the state.
She invited the public to report any cleanliness needs in public spaces by calling 983 102 3200, reinforcing the importance of citizen participation in maintaining the urban image of their municipalities.
On a separate note, Governor Mara Lezama addressed a smear campaign on social networks attempting to link her with illicit activities. "I want to make it very clear. I am not involved in any illicit activities. I am a woman of values, raised by loving parents," she stated emphatically.
Lezama claimed these accusations are part of a smear campaign by the opposition, who are spreading false information via bot farms and paid content on social networks. "They are falsely claiming that the DEA and the US Treasury Department are investigating me and my husband. This is completely untrue," she asserted.
The governor stressed that these campaigns aim to defame governors of the Fourth Transformation, but expressed confidence that citizens will be able to distinguish the truth from media manipulation. With these statements, Mara Lezama reaffirmed her position.
