Alcoholics Anonymous Tulum Sur, one of the largest self-help groups in the region, is set to celebrate its 13th anniversary. The group, known for its extensive membership, is expecting to gather over 800 individuals who are seeking to transform their lives.

The celebration aims to provide mutual support for members battling alcoholism, drug addiction, or depression. The group anticipates the arrival of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) groups from various states of Mexico, who will engage in discussions on a range of topics.

The festivities kick off today at the AA facilities located on Av 5 between Av Akumal. AA groups serve as a network of support and recovery for individuals grappling with alcoholism.

Founded in the United States in 1935 by Bill Wilson and Bob Smith, AA operates on a twelve-step program designed to assist members in achieving and maintaining sobriety. The AA meetings provide a safe, confidential space where individuals can share their experiences, strengths, and hopes related to their struggles with alcoholism.

These meetings are typically free of charge and are open to anyone with the desire to quit drinking. The primary objective of AA is to offer mutual support and encouragement by connecting individuals who share similar experiences.

Members assist each other in maintaining sobriety by practicing the twelve steps. These steps include acknowledging the problem, seeking help, taking a moral inventory, making amends for harm caused, and aiding other alcoholics in their recovery journey.
