Akumal, Quintana Roo — The Akumal Fair 2025, one of the most significant celebrations in the Mexican Caribbean, will take place during the first week of May in the town of Akumal, located in the municipality of Tulum, Quintana Roo. This annual tradition honors the Holy Cross, the patron saint of the town, and brings together the local community and visitors through faith, music, and customs that define the cultural spirit of the region.
Religious and Cultural Highlights
With deep religious roots, the fair begins with a liturgical program featuring masses, processions, and offerings. Devotees participate with gratitude for blessings received and prayers for the prosperity of the town. On May 1, a grand vaquería—a traditional cowboy-style celebration—will take place, showcasing jaraneros (folk musicians), regional attire, and traditional dances. This event symbolizes the connection between the land and its workers.
Music and dance remain central throughout the week. The artistic lineup includes the return of popular bands such as Banda R15 and Banda La Misma del Rancho, performing on May 2. Their concerts will accompany bullfights, fireworks, and public dances. Nightly musical performances will feature a variety of genres to appeal to all tastes.

Among the most anticipated events is the beauty pageant, which highlights the charisma, talent, and commitment of young women representing Akumal.
