Workers believed to be from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) have reportedly destroyed mangroves on Arco Norte Avenue, near the Caribbean University in Cancún. It is speculated that the destruction was to clear the path for high tension cables running through the area.

The incident was reported by passersby who witnessed the damage. Upon further investigation, the environmental harm to the endangered mangroves was confirmed.

As of now, no municipal authority has commented on the incident, raising concerns that the act may go unpunished. It's worth noting that in the past, individuals were arrested for a similar act of cutting down mangroves in the Nichupté Lagoon area, near the Flag Mast.
