A Control Judge in Cancún has handed down a 40-year prison sentence to a man identified as Ricardo "N", who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor. The severe sentence was achieved through the efforts of the Special Prosecutor's Office for Crimes against Women and Reasons of Gender, a division of the State Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo (FGEQROO).
Ricardo "N" was identified as the perpetrator of the crime, which took place in May and July of 2022 in a residence in the Villas Otoch neighborhood of Cancún. During a court hearing, the prosecution presented evidence that clearly linked Ricardo "N" to the criminal acts. This led the Control Judge to initiate an abbreviated proceeding.
After a thorough examination of the evidence, the Judge handed down a 40-year prison sentence to Ricardo "N" for rape. In addition to the prison term, he was fined 108,247 pesos and ordered to pay compensation for moral damages to the victim. The compensation was mandated to cover both quantitative and qualitative damages.
