A tragic incident unfolded at the 'La Reina' Zoo in Tizimín when a lion succumbed to heatstroke. The zoo, overseen by Mayor Pedro Couoh Suaste, was home to three lions, two females and one male. Unfortunately, the male lion could not survive the severe heat.

Witnesses reported a distressing scene as the lion began to foam at the mouth, stagger, and then collapse. Onlookers rushed to the cage and discovered there was no water in the lion's outdoor tub.

The death of this majestic creature underscores the importance of proper animal care and the need for adequate measures to protect them from extreme weather conditions.
