Investigations into a triple shooting in Tulum on Monday night have revealed that one of the victims was related to the city's former mayor, Marciano Dzul Camal, who passed away a few months ago. The State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation and is currently analyzing evidence to identify the perpetrators.
The incident occurred outside a residence in the Maya neighborhood, resulting in three fatalities and one injury. The injured individual was rushed to a hospital in the municipality of Solidaridad for treatment. To ensure public safety, the Attorney General's Office and the Group for the Coordination for the Construction of Peace and Security of Quintana Roo are maintaining a vigilant presence in the area.
The attack took place around 8pm. It was later revealed that one of the victims was the brother of former mayors Marciano and Romualda Dzul Caamal, and the uncle of the 12th District Deputy candidate, Silvia Dzul. The victim was shot dead a block away from the Quintana Roo Electoral Institute. Early reports suggest that the gunmen escaped in a Tulum taxi, leaving no trace. The incident was reported via the 911 emergency number, with reports of gunfire on Luna Sur Street between Mercurio Poniente and Tulum Avenue.
Two of the victims have been identified as Cristóbal “A” from Pichucalco, Chiapas, and Andrés “D”, a native of Tulum and reportedly a brother of the late former mayor, Marciano Dzul Caamal. The identity of the third victim remains unknown.
