In a tragic incident at Playa del Carmen, a 74-year-old woman lost her life despite receiving immediate first aid after she drowned. The unfortunate event took place at Xcalacoco Beach. The elderly lady decided to take a swim in the sea but was quickly swept away by the current into deeper waters.
Unable to swim, the woman began to struggle and drown. Alerted by onlookers, lifeguards were quick to respond. They managed to pull her out of the water and immediately performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Following the rescue, she was rushed to Amerimed Hospital, located at the intersection of 20th Street and Playa del Carmen Boulevard.
Despite the swift response and emergency procedures, the woman could not be saved. Upon arrival at the hospital, it was found that she no longer had vital signs. Her family was informed that she had not survived the ordeal, as she had ingested too much water, causing irreversible damage to her lungs.
