“Cozumel Cruise Ship Tourism Slumps: Only 13 Ships Expected!”

Cozumel is set to experience a significant decrease in port activity this year, with only 13 cruise ships, carrying a total of 39,000 tourists, scheduled to dock between May 13 and 19. This reduced number of visitors is projected to generate just over 53 million pesos in economic activity.

The busiest day for port activity is expected to be Thursday, with four cruise ships set to arrive at the international SSA Mexico pier. Friday will also see a fair amount of activity, with three ships scheduled to dock. However, no transatlantic arrivals are anticipated for Sunday.

Puerta Maya, the dock with the most significant docking capacity, will be the busiest, with eight arrivals planned. Its neighboring dock, SSA Mexico, is set to host five cruise ships. However, the central Punta Langosta dock is not expecting any arrivals.

Assuming an average of three thousand tourists, including passengers and crew per cruise, and an average expenditure of 80 dollars per person, the estimated economic impact of these arrivals is projected to be around 53 million 40 thousand pesos.
