Mexico's National Defense Secretary (Sedena) has reported the discovery of 10 kilograms of cocaine washing ashore at various locations in Cozumel. The drugs were found and secured by the National Guard and the Mexican Army.
During a routine patrol at Punta Chiqueros beach, National Guard officers discovered five rectangular packages. Each package measured roughly 22 centimeters in length and weighed approximately 1 kilogram. The packages were wrapped in black rubber and clear tape, and were marked with the word "Águila".
Further along the beach, two more packages of similar size and markings were found. Three additional packages were discovered on the same coastline. All packages were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
It's worth noting that this isn't an isolated incident. So far this year, a total of 64 kilograms of drugs have been found washed up on the beaches of Cozumel.
