Unexpected power outages across various parts of Mérida city have led to the temporary suspension of classes for hundreds of students of varying academic levels. The lack of electricity has not only affected internet access but also intensified the heat in classrooms. As a result, university authorities at UADY's Social Sciences Campus have decided to partially halt classes. The issue is expected to be resolved soon, allowing students to return to their classrooms.

The State's Ministry of Education has reported that only four basic education schools have had to suspend activities due to these power outages. Despite the intense heat, they have no plans to suspend work. The Yucatán's Ministry of Health has also stated that there are currently no plans to suspend classes due to the high temperatures. This is in contrast to other federal entities that have chosen to switch to remote learning under similar circumstances.
