As June 2nd, election day, draws near, residents of Quintana Roo will be heading to their local polling stations to cast their votes. This critical civic duty involves choosing their preferred candidates, parties, and coalitions. However, it's not just about knowing who to vote for, but also understanding the electoral district you belong to. To assist with this, we've created a guide that allows you to identify your electoral district and the candidates you can vote for.
An electoral district, as defined by the Legislative Information System (SIL), is a specific area determined by the electoral authority. Voters are assigned to these districts based on their residence. Each district is further divided into sections, each of which corresponds to a polling station where a set number of voters will cast their votes.
Locating your Local District and identifying the candidates for your area is simple with our interactive map of Quintana Roo. Here's how you can use it:
- Step 1: Click on the map displayed below.
- Step 2: Find your section, which is listed on your INE credentials.
- Step 3: Click on your corresponding district on the map. For instance, if you belong to District 2, click on the text 'District 2', and it will automatically direct you to your area.
Once you've followed these steps, you'll not only know your local electoral district in Quintana Roo, but you'll also see the names of the candidates running in your district.
