Shocking Theft Incident: Man Shot in Playa Del Carmen’s Mision District

A nighttime scene with a streetlight illuminating a tree, a footpath, and parked cars in the background.

A man, suspected of attempting to steal a motorcycle from a supermarket parking lot, was pursued and assaulted by local residents before being rescued by police in Region 92 of Playa Del Carmen.

The incident occurred in the parking area of Mega Soriana, situated on Jose Lopez Portillo Avenue. Bystanders spotted the attempted theft and raised an alarm, causing the man to flee.

However, he was apprehended on 24th Street with 73, where he was subsequently overpowered and beaten by the crowd.

Local law enforcement officers intervened, saving the man from potential lynching and taking him into custody. They transported him to the State Attorney General's Office. Several witnesses stated that the motorcycle belonged to an employee who regularly parked it at that location before commuting to Riviera Maya. They intend to inform the owner of the incident so he can take necessary legal action.
