Hotels in Quintana Roo are increasing their online promotion efforts to attract more visitors.

Sixty hotels in northern Quintana Roo have enhanced their sales team training with the help of four technology companies. Their goal is to promote new trends in direct sales, especially as most reservations are now made online. Rebeca Bravo, Director of Promotion of the Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres, explained that the aim is to ignite and boost sales through direct promotional channels and incentives to increase visitor inflow.

The training focused on providing participants with the latest trends and recommendations in distribution, technology, and direct hotel sales. Debates and working groups were held to exchange ideas and find ways to take advantage of the tourism industry.

To capitalize on the increase in international tourism travel, strategies involve the use of technology for data analysis and direct channels. They also plan to implement improvements in the shopping experience, additional sales techniques, and loyalty programs.

The technology companies involved in the training were Paraty Tech, SiteMinder, Duetto, and Sojern. Their contributions further enhanced the technological aspect of the hotel industry.

According to Marketing Consultants, 29% of sales are still made through traditional travel agencies, 25% through online agencies, but only 7% through the hotel's website. This highlights the importance of improving online sales for hotel chains, especially as this figure has decreased by 1% compared to previous years. The remaining reservations are made via telephone, travel search engines, and airline offers.

This training event in Cancun is part of a series of sessions that the technology companies will hold in Mexico City and Los Cabos.
